Beer Can Boat Sails down the Bribane River

Maybe this is how they escaped from that flooded Australian town?

Full Article

The entire effort was for SIDS, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome raisinf 60,000 in the process. The boat was made from 8,000 GoldX cans, wood and silicone.

The sailors must have been inspired by the Darwin Beer Regatta.
An annual event where boats are made primarily from cans and raced. The website has some great building tips, as well as rules for the competition.

Maybe we need to have a beer can regatta in Austin at Town Lake? Probably give the Red Bull Flugtag a run for it's money.

"They'll be able to watch the game and have a cold one tonight," said Philip Campbell, a SES spokesman.
